Sanlorenzo signs fourth 50X-Space hull, market impact
Sanlorenzo has sold the fourth hull in its 50 X-Space series, with Jan Jaap Minnema of Fraser representing the buyer. Fraser will also oversee project management for this unit, which is scheduled for delivery in 2028. The sale reinforces Sanlorenzo’s continued focus on explorer-style superyachts within its steel and aluminium range.
The transaction signals sustained demand for large, purpose-built explorer yachts that combine extended-range capability with high-spec interiors. As the fourth hull committed in this particular model line, the sale helps solidify the 50 X-Space’s place in Sanlorenzo’s portfolio and supports the yard’s broader production momentum.
First unit to feature MAN bi-fuel green methanol system
At boot Düsseldorf this year Sanlorenzo announced that the first 50 X-Space will be fitted with a bi-fuel green methanol propulsion system developed in collaboration with MAN Engines. The installation was presented as the first of its kind for this class, offering the option to operate on methanol alongside conventional fuel to reduce lifecycle emissions where green methanol is available.
From a performance perspective the model is expected to reach a 16-knot maximum speed with a 12.5-knot cruising speed. The propulsion choice and engineering collaboration reflect a clear shift toward alternative fuels in the superyacht sector and position the 50 X-Space to meet evolving regulatory and owner preferences for lower-carbon operation.
Six cabins, 499GT beach club, dining and skylounge
Accommodation aboard the 50 X-Space is arranged for up to 12 guests in six cabins. The yacht’s 499GT volume accommodates a lower-deck beach club and gym, formal dining for 12 guests, and a skylounge that features a sit-up bar and aft-facing sofa seating, allowing for a mix of social and private spaces within the internal arrangement.

The layout has been designed to balance onboard living and utility, with the expansive aft deck conceived as an “open-air living room” directly connected to the main saloon. Folding balconies extend that space and increase the sense of continuity between interior and exterior living areas.
Fraser-managed delivery in 2028 amid 46-project orderbook
Fraser’s Jan Jaap Minnema will manage the buyer’s interests throughout the build and deliver the fourth 50 X-Space in 2028. The broker’s dual role of sale representation and project management is common on large custom and semi-custom builds, providing continuity between client brief, yard execution, and final delivery.
Sanlorenzo currently reports 46 superyacht projects on order or under construction, including three Sanlorenzo 74Steel units as the largest commitments in its pipeline. The sale of the fourth 50 X-Space, the adoption of a methanol-capable propulsion option, and the yard’s substantial orderbook together indicate a focused production strategy and a near-term roadmap for technology adoption and fleet expansion.
