New Fees, Smooth Cruising — FYI Yachts Has You Covered

Dreaming of a yacht getaway to The Bahamas in 2025? Before you cast off, take a moment to review the updated cruising fees and regulations that went into effect on July 1, 2024. Whether you’re heading over for a weekend escape or a full-season island-hopping experience, these changes could affect your itinerary — and your budget.

At FYI Yachts, we believe that great adventures start with great planning. Below is a detailed breakdown of what you’ll need to know before setting sail.

Cruising Permit Fee Updates

Temporary cruising permits are now valid for 12 months, with two entries allowed within a 30-day period. The fee structure is based on vessel length:

  • Up to 34 feet: $500
  • 34–100 feet: $1,000
  • Over 100 feet: $3,000

For frequent visitors, a new option offers even more flexibility and value.

Frequent Digital Cruising Card (FDCC)

Ideal for yacht owners who regularly cruise Bahamian waters, the FDCC offers unlimited entries over a 2-year period.

  • Up to 34 feet: $1,500
  • 34–100 feet: $2,500
  • Over 100 feet: $8,000

This option can simplify planning and reduce overall permit costs for active boaters.

Anchoring Outside Marinas? New Fees Apply

If you plan to anchor instead of docking at a marina, you’ll need to account for new anchorage fees:

  • Up to 34 feet: $200
  • 34–100 feet: $350
  • Over 100 feet: $1,500

These fees are assessed per visit, so factoring them into your cruising plan is key.

Additional Costs to Budget For

Several other charges may apply depending on your vessel type and passenger count:

  • Passenger Tax: $30 per non-resident over the age of 6, after the first three
  • Fishing Permits: $100–$300, depending on vessel size
  • Tenders Over 25 Feet: $500 registration fee
