Baglietto sells custom 48m explorer yacht project

Baglietto has confirmed the sale of a fully custom 48-metre explorer project, hull number 10277, first shown at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The owner specified an “extremely seaworthy” yacht capable of global cruising, and the vessel will be built to Ice Class 1D for long-range navigation in demanding environments and high latitudes.

The naval architecture has been optimised to reduce drag and extend autonomy: the hull is designed for a range in excess of 5,000 nautical miles while cutting fuel consumption by up to 30 percent. The result is a long-range platform intended to combine expedition capability with efficient passage-making.

Floating Life and SaturaStudio design panoramic saloon

Exterior and interior design work is being handled by Floating Life in collaboration with Italian studio SaturaStudio. The design prioritises a strong indoor‑outdoor relationship, using warm, natural materials and layout choices that encourage continuity between exterior decks and interior spaces.

A key interior feature is a panoramic saloon on the main deck framed by 360-degree glazing, which supports visibility and connection to the surrounding environment while providing a central social space. Material selections and detailing are intended to deliver a restrained, cohesive aesthetic that complements the yacht’s expedition role.

Besenzoni-collaborated historical tender launch system

A distinctive custom element is a 10‑metre tender launching system modelled on the historical hauling systems used by Italian shipyards from the 1940s to the 1960s. The owner’s team developed and modelled the concept and Baglietto partnered with Besenzoni to translate it into an operational system for this build.

The solution features a retractable platform that allows the tender to be launched directly into the sea and retrieved safely, providing a seagoing handling method not commonly found on modern yachts. The system is presented as a bespoke, market‑unique arrangement that integrates heritage inspiration with contemporary engineering and safety requirements.

Efficient propulsion, Ice Class range and interior flow

Propulsion will be provided by the Volvo Penta IPS Professional Platform with a dual power input configuration that permits combination of different energy sources for greater operational flexibility and redundancy. The system incorporates an Eco Mode that automatically optimises engine operation to real navigation conditions, and its compact layout frees volume that would otherwise be occupied by the engine room.

The engine room is arranged on the under-lower deck to deliver an uninterrupted lower-deck plan from stern to bow, a layout enhanced by transparent staircases linking the decks to preserve visual continuity. Baglietto’s CCO, Fabio Ermetto, highlighted the yard’s ongoing collaboration with Floating Life and its partnership with Volvo Penta as evidence of the shipyard’s capability to produce high-tech, tailor-made yachts.

Baglietto currently has 11 superyacht projects on order or under construction, including two T60 models. This project consolidates the yard’s focus on long-range performance, bespoke systems, and integrated design, and will progress through the build program according to the agreed schedule.
