Italian Designer Presents 33-Metre Motor Yacht Prioritizing Adaptable Outdoor Living
Italian designer Franco Gnessi, founder of studio DYDXL Design Forge, has unveiled his latest concept: a 33-metre motor yacht known as Wanderlust95. The vessel has been designed to offer volumes typical of a higher category vessel in a manageable format, with special attention paid to providing adaptable spaces on board using a layered exterior design born out of a desire to create a more fluid, sociable concept centred on outdoor living.
The flybridge stands as a particular standout, conceived as a true nautical rooftop featuring a small integrated pool in the forward section, glass bulwarks and sunpads that add to a resort-like character typically associated with high-end hospitality. Elsewhere on the flybridge is a large convivial dining table with a fully equipped bar and high stools, expanding its use as an open-air dining and social hub. Layering continues across the design’s sizeable stern, which can transform from a beach club into an operational area for tenders and water toys, with compartments for sports and diving equipment integrated into the water-level area alongside movable furniture, chaise longues and ottomans.
Flexibility extends towards the aft, where the deck opens out into a relaxing lounge with modular sofas and soft seating. A further defining feature is the connection between the beach area and upper aft deck, where guests can find a protected scenographic outdoor lounge accessible via symmetrical side staircases overlooking the water. Here, guests can decompress on upholstered seating, large cushions and loose furniture ideal for both relaxed moments and informal gatherings.
Perhaps the concept’s greatest strength is its two-level solution, which separates the yacht’s functions without interrupting visual continuity. This philosophy is emulated at the stern, where every element appears to have been designed to amplify the relationship with the sea, both functionally and emotionally. The Wanderlust95 can accommodate up to 10 guests on board plus a crew of four, with maximising light prioritised for the interior design through large windows that brighten the main living spaces while maintaining constant connection with the surrounding environment.
In terms of propulsion, Wanderlust95 is drawn with twin MAN V12-1900 engines, a choice consistent with the studio’s approach toward solid performance and effortless handling. This particular concept features a shaft-line drive but will also be offered with Volvo Penta IPS propulsion and a diesel-electric hybrid powertrain to meet the most modern demands of operating a yacht. The design represents Gnessi’s continued exploration of adaptable luxury spaces, following last year’s unveiling of a 45-metre concept that drew inspiration from 1920s and 30s Italian Rationalist architecture.
