Description

A conservatively styled boat with a distinctive profile (note the
stepped sheer), the Silverton 40 Convertible was one of the
lowest-priced sedan cruisers available in her class during the late
1980s. She was clearly designed to appeal to the weekend cruiser
market and came equipped with just about everything required
for immediate use. During the first few years of production, her
two-stateroom floorplan was arranged with the galley and dinette
forward in the salon—a layout that required the galley sole to be
sunken in order to have any headroom. In 1989, the interior was
redesigned with the galley and dinette down in the conventional
manner. Both floorplans include a separate stall shower in the
head. Note that a lower helm was never offered. Topside, the
cockpit is large enough for a couple of anglers, and the wide side
decks make for easy foredeck access. Additional features include
a well-arranged engine room, bow pulpit, and a swim platform.
No racehorse with the standard 350hp Crusader gas engines, the
Silverton 40 Convertible will cruise at 15–16 knots and reach a top
speed in the neighborhood of 25 knots. Cat diesels were optional.
