This well-regarded Maine-built Duffy 38 hull was completed in 2004 with the custom wood interior and other systems meticulously outfitted over the next few years by the original owner in Connecticut, with the boat going into service in 2012. As indicated by a 2017 surveyor, “The  quality of the build-out… was high, on par with the best Maine custom boat builders… The electrical system was built in full compliance with ABYC standards.”  The commercial-grade John Deere 6135AFM175 M4 526 HP diesel currently has only 1,375 hours with these models having an expected service life between 10,000-15,000 hours before requiring a rebuild. This 2,100 RPM at WOT engine should allow this boat to easily cruise in semi-planing mode at 16-18 kts at around 1400 RPM, burning an estimated 17 gph. Of course these type of full-keeled downeast hulls are happy cruising at any lower speed you want, for more efficiency while also tracking straight and true.
