Is buying a yacht in Puerto Rico easier than elsewhere in the Caribbean?

Considerably, for a US buyer. Puerto Rico is US territory, so there is no import duty to pay, no foreign flag to change, and US Coast Guard documentation carries over — the transaction looks much like buying in Florida. It is also a short run to the Spanish and US Virgin Islands.

Nothing. In a standard brokerage transaction the commission is paid by the seller out of the sale proceeds, so working with an FYI consultant as a buyer costs you nothing and gets you independent representation, comparable-sale data, and someone negotiating on your side.
