Similar to a flybridge but more compact, the Alpha 87 Express Sportbridge is thoroughly integrated into a streamlined profile that reflects the yacht’s performance capabilities. The standard power source, a pair of 1,900 hp Caterpillar C32 engines, enables a top speed of more than 30 knots.

From the aft deck, stairs lead up to the fly bridge, where there’s a helm station and plenty of seats for passengers who want to take in the views. The vessel’s sportbridge includes a secondary helm station, sun pads for lounging. The main deck’s open-plan interior is filled with natural light and features a sitting area with a leather couch, a galley, a dining area that seats six, and the primary helm.

The layout includes four en-suite staterooms belowdecks: a full-beam master with a king-size berth, a walk-in closet, and a dual-sink bathroom; a VIP stateroom with a queen-size bed; and two guest cabins, one with a queen-size bed and the other with a twin-size bed. All four cabins have marble-adorned bathrooms, ample storage, and huge windows. Together they accommodate eight guests.

For crew, there are quarters that lead directly to the engine room.

The 87—a four-stateroom cruiser with formal and informal dining rooms, a salon and galley up—showcases de Basto’s preference for fine woods, leather, marble and glass, and also cements a reputation for the Alpha series. These are indeed upscale luxury yachts. Among the notable interior features are the galley, which is arranged more like a bar for a casually chic atmosphere, and the custom sliding glass doors at the aft end of the salon that open completely and create a seamless flow from the 87’s interior to the aft deck. Out on deck, settees are protected by an awning that retracts into the pilothouse roof.
