50ft Californian 1983
Tricky | New Smyrna Beach, FL
TRICKY” – 50’ Californian Motor Yacht
“TRICKY” is one of only a handful of 50’ Californians built by Jules Marshall in Tustin, CA. Her design and layout make her especially well-suited for completing the Great Loop, with an air draft of just 19′ 3″ to the anchor light – with antennas up 34′.
Powered by twin 435hp Detroit Diesels, she can reach speeds up to 18 knots when needed or cruise comfortably at 12 knots. Two Westerbeke generators (12.5kw and 7.5kw) provide ample power when away from the dock, ensuring self-sufficiency and freedom on extended voyages.
Inside, her expansive salon is warm and inviting. She features a galley-down layout, with an adjacent cabin that has been converted into a massive pantry with a second freezer—ideal for long-distance cruising and provisioning.
The aft master stateroom offers a walk-around queen bed, a private en-suite head, and a tub/shower combo, creating a true liveaboard retreat. Forward of the galley and pantry is the guest stateroom, which also features its own en-suite head for comfort and privacy.
On deck, “TRICKY” boasts full walkaround side decks with sturdy handrails, making it safe and easy to move forward to the bow. Both the lower helm and flybridge helm provide convenient options for operation in all conditions.
Recent upgrades:
– Chart plotter (simrad 12″ in 2020)
– Helm enclosure, new clear vinyl windows forward panel
– Forward head macerator pump replaced.
Note: The owner is in the process of making repairs / upgrades
