WabiSabi is a third generation Atlantic 49 Mastfoil catamaran. The patented MastFoil rig has the advantage of being one of the easiest designs to sail. The MastFoils are rigid sails that combined with self tacking jibs provide similar sailing performance to a conventional sloop rig without the difficulty of hoisting, reefing, gybing and furling a mainsail. With the touch of a button boat speed can be immediately speeded up or reduced as conditions warrant. Trimming the MastFoils in this manner can often eliminate the need to adjust sail area by roller reefing futher simplifying sailing tasks. In addition there is a bowsprit with a single line furler and a screacher that can be set or stowed easily. The forward cockpit provides excellent visibility and superb safety. All sailing and anchoring functions are easily accomplished from a central station. When conditions warrant, retreat to the inside pilot house where there is a completely protected helm station with excellent visibility. WabiSabi is constructed of vacuum bagged Epoxy-Vinylester resin and high performance glass fibre cored with PVC foam. Carbon fibre is used in all the high load areas. The aft hardtop is carbon fibre over foam. The hull is faired and finished with Alexseal linear polyurethane.
